Fact Check: Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid Did NOT Announce He Will Cover Funeral Expenses For Families Of Texas Flood Victims Didn't Happen

Did Kansas City Chiefs Coach Andy Reid publicly say that he will pay for the funerals of the Texas flood victims? No, that's not true: No credible media organizations reported that. The claim followed the pattern seen in other unsubstantiated rumors about celebrities that began to circulate on the internet shortly after the natural disaster.

The claim appeared in an article (archived here) on Lifenews Livextop where it was published on July 8, 2025. The headline read:

UPDATE: Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has stepped in to cover the funeral expenses and provide compensation for the emotional and financial damages to the victims' family in central Texas flash floods on Sunday afternoon.

This is what it looked like at the time of writing:

This was one of many made-up clickbait stories that emerged from obscure websites in the aftermath of the deadly Texas flash floods in early July 2025 (archived here). Lead Stories previously wrote that Eric Clapton didn't announce he would cover victims' funeral expenses, that there was no evidence confirming that Eminem didn't contribute $50 million to relief efforts and that Ohio State football coach Ryan Day didn't spend over $3.5 million on assistance to the affected families.

Just like in the previous cases, searches across Google News (archived here) and Yahoo News (archived here) showed no credible reporting corroborating the claim about Andy Reid (archived here).
