Fact Check: Elon Musk Did NOT Threaten To End His Super Bowl Sponsorship If Bad Bunny Performs At The Halftime Show -- Viet Spam Not A Sponsor

Did Elon Musk threaten to end his Super Bowl sponsorship if Bad Bunny performs at the halftime show? No, that's not true: Elon Musk does not sponsor the Super Bowl. The claim that he does and has threatened to end his sponsorship was published and promoted by a network of clickbait websites and Facebook page operated from Vietnam. The same network has produced many other false claims about the Bad Bunny and the Superbowl to gain web traffic for money.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) where it was published by the Palace Corner page on Facebook on October 12, 2025. The post opened:

"I WILL END MY SUPER BOWL SPONSORSHIP IF THEY LET BAD BUNNY PERFORM AT HALF TIME -- Elon Musk Issues Shocking Ultimatum, NFL's Response Leaves Millions Stunned!"

This is what the post looked like at the time of writing:

The post continued:

The battle for America's biggest stage has exploded into a public confrontation. Elon Musk has issued an unprecedented ultimatum: Either the NFL cancels Bad Bunny's controversial Super Bowl halftime performance, or the world's most iconic tech billionaire will walk away from one of his most lucrative sponsorship deals.
The warning has sent shockwaves through the worlds of sports and business, raising questions about culture, commerce, and the true cost of following global trends over American traditions.

The bottom of the post includes a link (archived here) to an article on a website (archived here) that publishes hundreds of questionable articles every day. These stories appear to have been mass produced by artificial intelligence and typically have no basis in reality. They are designed to lure Facebook users into clicking on the links in order to generate revenue.

There is no evidence that Musk or his companies sponsor the Super Bowl. There is also no record of Musk making a public statement that he would end his sponsorship if Bad Bunny is the halftime show performer.

The Facebook page promoting this claim is administered from Vietnam, according to Meta transparency data.

Lead Stories has conducted extensive investigations into fake Facebook fan pages that use AI-generated stories to trick users into clicking on posts and articles. We have identified dozens that are administered from Southeast Asia, particularly from Vietnam. Click here to see our reporting.
