Does a tell-all book by Hungarian opposition leader Péter Magyar's ex-wife accuse him of committing an act of sexual gratification in front of their children and cooking a live puppy in a microwave? No, that's not true: There is no evidence that such a book exists.
The claim appeared in a post on X on April 8, 2026 (archived here). The text read:
🇭🇺 Hungarian Tisza party candidate Peter Magyar has now been accused of some truly astonishing personal life behavior by his ex-wife of 16 years, severe alcohol addiction, masturbation in front of his children, wanton animal cruelty against one of the family's dogs & many more 🤷♂️ 🤦
The accompanying Hungarian-language video shows clips of Magyar and ex-wife Judit Varga, who served as justice minister in Orbán's cabinet from 2019 to 2023. The caption reads:

Ex-wife Memoirs Reveals Puppy M*rder & J**k Off In Front Of Kids
The video's English-language subtitles read:
At the end of March 2026, the memoirs of Judit Varga, the former wife of Péter Magyar, leader of the opposition Tisza party, were published under the title "16 Years with the Monster -- Confession of Péter Magyar's Ex-Wife". In the book, she describes their life together in detail. According to the author, Péter Magyar suffered from severe alcohol addiction for years. According to Varga's account, in a state of severe intoxication he regularly lost self-control: he stripped completely naked in front of the children and masturbated in their presence. In March 2023, during another drinking binge, Péter Magyar grabbed one of the family Hungarian Vizsla puppies and cooked it alive in the microwave oven. The animal died in the sight of the mother and their three children. A photograph of the dead puppy appeared in the memoirs. After the tragedy, all three children required long-term psychological support, and Judit Varga decided to sever all contact with Péter Magyar. The memoirs have already provoked widespread public reaction. Neither Péter Magyar nor the leadership of the Tisza Party has commented on the accusations made.

There is no evidence that Varga ever published a book spilling details about her marriage to Magyar. A Google search for the Hungarian title, "16 év a szörnyeteggel," returned no results other than social media pages repeating the same claim (archived here). An attack of this nature on a leading Hungarian politician days before an election would have generated headlines.
Another search on Libri.hu, a popular Hungarian online bookseller, also turned up no such titles (archived here).
The same claim appeared on April 6, 2026 on a Hungarian-language website called magyarhirek24.com, which translates as "hungariannews24" (archived here). The domain name was registered on the same date via NameCheap, Inc., a company based in Reykjavik, Iceland, according to the Whois domain lookup tool (archived here).
For reasons unclear, magyarhirek24.com's "Contact" section quotes the introduction to the popular U.S. crime drama series, Law & Order, in English (archived here).
