Fact Check: Image Does NOT Show Steve Bannon Had Urine On His Pants At World Economic Forum Event Darker Fabric

Does an image show Steve Bannon had urine on his pants at a World Economic Forum event? No, that's not true: The dark area running along the inside of Bannon's thighs appears to be a different type and color of fabric rather than a stain. Its shape and intensity shift depending on whether he is standing or sitting, as well as the angle and lighting conditions in the image. These variations are consistent with changing light and perspective, not with a fixed wet spot on clothing.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) by the @theserfstv account on X on April 17, 2026. It read:

Steve Bannon has pissed himself at the World Economic Forum

This is what the post looked like on X at the time of writing:

The shape and shade of the darkness around Bannon's crotch change depending on whether he is sitting or standing, and the angle and lighting found in the image. That is something that would not happen if his pants were merely wet. It would appear largely the same regardless of the viewing angle.

Lead Stories took three screenshots from a video of the event to illustrate how the area changed based on Bannon's position. The first image (L-R) is from 19 seconds into this YouTube video (archived here) from the Semafor World Economy 2026 event on April 16, 2026. The second image is at the 4:20 mark, and the final image comes at 14:23. As the still images show, there is no dark area when Bannon is standing, but there is when he is sitting:

A photo (archived here) on the Getty Images website, from the Semafor event, taken from a different angle and under different lighting conditions, shows Bannon is wearing two-tone pants. A darker fabric inset can be seen on the inner and outer thighs (circled in yellow):

A picture by Rolling Stone photographers (archived here), also from the same event, shows the darker fabric inset:
