Fact Check: Video Does NOT Show Man Standing Up On Six Flags Roller Coaster Before His Death In Atlanta -- 2024 Video From Arizona 2024 Video

Does a video show the man who fell to his death in Atlanta in October 2026 standing up on a Six Flags roller coaster? No, that's not true: The footage is from a November 2024 incident in Arizona where a man jumped off a roller coaster after realizing there was a problem with his harness. It does not show the man who died in Atlanta standing up on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) by the @its_The_Dr account on X on Oct. 14, 2026. It read:

This is the guy that died at Six Flags. Looking at this Video at the beginning makes me think he actually got up out of his seat. What do you think?

The video on X opens with footage of a person climbing off the coaster car while at the top of the hill. The footage was published by ABC 7 Eyewitness News (archived here) on Nov. 28, 2024. It shows a man standing up and getting off a roller coaster on the top of a hill at the Castles N' Coasters amusement park in Phoenix. The video was posted on the ABC7 YouTube channel (archived here). Beginning at 0:34 in the video, a roller coaster is going up a hill and a person stands up.

Police identified the man involved in the deadly accident at Six Flags Over Georgia on Oct. 12, 2026, as Hassan Kariem, 42, a husband, father and teacher, TODAY reported (archived here). Kariem was a two-time cancer survivor and had escaped from a fiery car accident with his young daughter several weeks before. Witnesses told TODAY they saw Kariem "fall out of his seat on the roller coaster, collide with another cart, injuring other riders before crashing onto the roof of a structure below." The witnesses did not say Kariem stood up in his roller coaster seat.
