Seems like the PR people at IKEA have put together a neat video giving parents some tips on how to cook together with their kids in the kitchen (and not, as the title might imply, a cookbook for cannibals).
Here are their five rules:
- Don't correct the kids all the time.
- Don't get mad if they fail.
- Don't rush them.
- It's OK to be messy.
- It's OK to get tired or lose interest.
This sounds like a good list for 'recreational cooking'. However if you are trying to get dinner on the table in time so kid A can go to soccer practice, kid B can do music lessons and kid C has time to do homework before bedtime: this list sounds like a recipe for ending up with no food, a messy kitchen and having to clean it up all by yourself.
