Fake News: Visa-free Travel Bill For Uganda, Ghana And Malawi NOT Signed By Trump

Fact Check

  • by: Maarten Schenk

It seems fake news hoaxers are trying to copy the succes of earlier scam articles, this time claiming variously that Donald Trump signed a bill that would extend visa-free travel to citizens of Uganda, Ghana or Malawi.

Unfortunately for those looking to immigrate or travel to the United States from these counties the story is completely false. The articles are complete copies or variations on earlier stories that claimed Trump allowed visa-free travel from all of Asia or from the Caribbean.

Knowing how these fake news sites operate it is probably a matter of time before versions of the story start popping up for Cuba, Russia, Botswana or North Korea... If you do spot a new variation, let us know via [email protected].
