Fact Check: Rothschild Coat of Arms Does NOT Resemble Russian Federation Emblem Not The Same

Does the Rothschild coat of arms resemble the Russian Federation emblem? No, that's not true: The meme in this post displays the Russian Federation emblem twice. The Rothschild coat of arms and the Russian Federation emblem are two distinct symbols.

There is also no evidence to suggest that the Rothschild coat of arms has been recently altered to resemble the Russian Federation emblem.

The claim appeared in a Facebook post (archived here) on April 1, 2022. The meme in the post displayed, side-by-side, two similar images of the Russian Federation emblem, with only minor color and detail differences, above images of Russian President Vladimir Putin with other world leaders. It opened:

This is what the post looked like on Facebook at the time of writing:

The Rothschild Archive's website says there have been different versions of the Rothschild coat of arms. However, as of April 6, 2022, none of them depict the image seen underneath the text in the post that reads, "Rothschild coat of arms."

The top two images in the meme show, not once but twice and side-by-side, the Russian Federation emblem -- which does not look like the Rothschild coat of arms. In the Russian Federation versions, a few small details -- in the horse-and-rider images, one version is lacking facial details -- are different and the color shade is different, but the layout and overall content of the two versions are the same.
