Did Uber add a "walking buddy" option to its usual ridesharing services? No, that's not true: An Uber spokesperson denied that claim in an email to Lead Stories.
The claim appeared in a tweet on October 19, 2022 (archived here), that opened:
Uber CEO: How do we turn a profit?
Intern: Imagine Uber but no car...

The tweet contains a screenshot from the Uber app. The first two options are UberX and Pool, standard for the app; a new third addition is labeled "Walking Buddy."
Conor Ferguson, an Uber spokesperson, wrote to Lead Stories in an October 24, 2022, email saying that this was untrue:
This claim is false.
A similar claim regarding Uber and a "walking buddy" appeared in 2020, and Uber also then said the claim was false.
