Fact Check: Biden Did NOT Use A Different Hand To Sign Documents -- Image Is Reversed Photo Flip

Does an image showing President Joe Biden using two different hands to sign documents prove that a "body double" is being used for him? No, that's not true: The picture showing him signing with his left hand -- Biden is right-handed and signs documents with his right hand -- is an Associated Press image that has been flipped to make it appear he is using his left hand to sign. It is a reverse photo of the president in the Oval Office and not a "body double."

The claim appeared in a video on Instagram on May 1, 2023. The caption on the video said:

Using a different hand to sign? 👀

THE AWAKENING 👁👁

This is what the post looked like on Instagram at the time of writing:

The video opens with a voice saying, "Quiet people, quiet on the set. Rolling and action!" while two images of Biden are shown. The photo on the left shows him signing a document with his right hand and the one on the right shows him signing with his left hand. The text on the video reads, "Oops. Biden's body double is left handed. Casting director slipped up!"

This image on the left was taken by White House photographer David Lienemann on April, 14, 2010, when Biden was vice president. It can be found on this flickr.com account:

The image in the video on the right is an Associated Press photo that was taken of Biden in the Oval Office on January 20, 2021. It has been flipped, as the original image shows him signing with his right hand:

The video's claims are part of the conspiracy theories around Biden being photo-edited into presidential offices and backgrounds. Lead Stories has debunked those claims before, finding that the video of Biden talking to the press on the White House lawn did not reveal a "green screen fail," that a photograph of the Oval Office did not prove it is a "film set" and not in the White House, and that the White House did not set up a "fake scene" for Biden to get his COVID-19 booster shot.
