Did actor James Woods post an authentic copy of a tweet by Congresswoman Maxine Waters in which she misspelled impeach as "inpeach" and confused a urine test with an IQ test, supposedly responding to President Donald Trump calling her "Low IQ Maxine"? No, that's not true: Woods posted to his X account a copy of a fake tweet that was identified in 2019 as having been created by @MaxinePWaters, an impersonation account on the platform then known as Twitter. The counterfeit Waters account is not active in 2025, while Waters' authentic accounts are active.
The fake tweet was included in a March 21, 2025 post on X (archived here) by the account of actor James Woods, with only the title: "Inpeach". The rest of the post was a copy of the debunked post.
At the time this fact check was published, Woods' post looked like this:

In 2019, the Associated Press established that the supposed Waters post originated on @MaxinePWaters, an impersonation account made to look like her authentic accounts: @RepMaxineWaters and @MaxineWaters, a personal account on which she had not, at the time this was published, posted anything since 2022.
An archived copy of a 2018 tweet from the @MaxinePWaters impersonation account shows that it identified itself as a satire account (see highlight in screenshot below) at that time, with parody built into several elements of her bio:

The fake Waters post reads: "That son of a bitch Trump just called me "Low IQ Maxine"?? Wants me to take an IQ test?? What kind of man tells an elderly woman of color she needs to pee in a cup to prove how smart she is? #INPEACH"
A search of GoogleNews' index of thousands of credible news sites (archived here) found no coverage of such a public statement by Waters.
