Did Donald Trump actually post a reply to 'Peter Girnus' who previously pretended to be a member of the Nobel Committee? No, that's not true: The screenshot displayed the wrong handle for Trump's Truth Social account -- @notRealDonaldTrump instead of @realDonaldTrump. Neither a search of his Truth Social account nor an archive of his posts showed any such reply.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on X where it was published by @gothburz on Oct. 14, 2026. It shared an image that looked like a screenshot of a Donald Trump post on Truth Social, which read:
This is the most FAKE, ridiculous, LOW-ENERGY post I've ever seen, written by Peter Girnus (@gothburz), a total LOSER who claims to be on the Nobel Committee but is obviously NOT. Total FRAUD. I'm told he rides a TRAM. A grown man! The real Committee is a bunch of RADICAL LEFTISTS in Norway who hate Americe [sic] and everything we've accomplished. They sit around drinking coffee and eating cinnamon buns, very fattening, very bad buns, I'm told, while deciding who gets the Prize, and then they give it to some 85-year-old woman from the United Nations who NOBODY has ever heard of. Did she end eight wars? I don't think so!
I settled EIGHT WARS, more than any President in HISTORY, maybe more than all of them combined, and some of them I didn't even know were wars until I ended them. Leaders called me, big strong men, tears in their eyes, 'Sir, thank you, sir.' And they STILL didn't give it to me. The nomination deadline thing is NONSENSE. Nobody told me there was a deadline! Everyone knows I deserved it. They even keep KISSINGER on the wall, which shows how PHONY the whole thing is. Henry was a friend of mine, great guy, but they put up Henry and there's no picture of ME? Big frame, gold, very beautiful. Fix it, Norway! This Prize is totally RIGGED and an INDELIBLE STAIN on Norway, a country with more rain than people. The medal doesn't 'flee' anyone. It just goes to whoever the RADICAL IDEOLOGUES want, and they always want the WRONG person. Obama got it nine months in. Nine months! That's not even a full pregnancy!
Next year will be DIFFERENT. Or the year after. Or they'll keep getting it wrong, because they're CORRUPT. Either way, I WIN. The American People know the TRUTH: I did more for PEACE than anyone, ever, and the Committee is a DISGRACE. SAD!

As Lead Stories previously reported, "Peter Girnus", whose account posted the claim reviewed in this fact check, was not a real member of the 2026 Norwegian Nobel Committee -- that account belongs to a self-described "satirist."
The first clue that the story was not real was an incorrect handle for Trump's account in the "screenshot". It read:
@notRealDonaldTrump.
A search across Trump's account (archived here) did not show such a post. A search across the archive of his posts (archived here) did not produce a confirmation that he ever wrote such post.
A search across Google News for the keywords seen here (archived here) did not return media coverage corroborating the claim, either.
