Fact Check: Ted Cruz Did NOT Say He Has Hunter Biden's Laptop Files In This Video No Mention

Did Sen. Ted Cruz say he has Hunter Biden's laptop and leak a secret document implicating U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland? No, that's not true: This video does not include any of those claims. The video is an exchange between Cruz and Franita Tolson, the George T. and Harriet E. Pfleger Chair in Law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, on racial discrimination in voter ID laws.

The claim appeared in a Facebook post on August 17, 2022. The video opened with:

... the federal district court that first resolved the constitutionality of Texas' voter ID laws.

The caption of the post read, "'I Have Hunter's Laptop Files' - Sen. Ted cruz π‹π„π€πŠπ’ π’πžπœπ«πžπ Document πˆπŒππ‹πˆπ‚π€π“πˆππ† Merrick Garland."
