It was a happy night for a maternal dog and two young rescue puppies at Barker's Pet Motel and Grooming in St. Albert on Friday.
Maggie, an Australian shepherd, was in her cage when she heard the whimpering of puppies nearby, according to a Facebook post by Barker's Pet Motel and Grooming. The family-run business in St. Albert, Alberta often boards rescue dogs when there isn't enough space for them elsewhere.
Maggie was forced to give up her own babies a couple of weeks before, and these puppies just so happened to be without a mother of their own.
In the above photo, Maggie can be seen searching the compound for the crying puppies.
After doing a couple rounds through the kennel, she finally finds the two little pups and lies down with them.
Here we can see Maggie (momma dog), and the two little puppies that were crying throughout the night lying comfortably together.
"A lot of our staff have fallen in love with them, so they'll take them home in the evenings and let them have a home environment for the night."
She expects both will find find homes in the next week or so.
