Lead Stories: Now a Verified Member of the EFCSN Verified!

Is that another new logo in our website footer and sidebar? Yes, it is: We are pleased to announce Lead Stories is now a verified member of the European Fact-Checking Standards Network. We applied in May 2024 because of our work in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Belarus and Ukraine. After a long and thorough assessment procedure, we were informed on December 2, 2024 that our membership application was accepted.

We look forward to contributing to the various projects the EFCSN is engaged in!

What is the EFCSN?

The website explains it like this:

The EFCSN is the voice of European fact-checkers who uphold and promote the highest standards of fact-checking and media literacy in their effort to combat misinformation for the public benefit.

The EFCSN and its verified members are committed to upholding the principles of freedom of expression. They work to promote the public's access to fact-checked trustworthy data and information and to educate the public in how to assess the veracity of information in the public sphere.

The EFCSN maintains a Code of Standards similar to the IFCN's Code of Principles, which Lead Stories already was a verified signatory to, but with several additional requirements and conditions. Lead Stories has now successfully met those requirements as well.
