Did Donald Trump sit on a black towel during his appearance on "Fox & Friends" on October 18, 2024? No, that's not true: When Trump sat on a couch for an interview, material from his dark suit jacket fanned out on both sides. There was no other material visible on the couch with him.

The claim appeared in a post on Threads (archived here) on October 18, 2024. It opened:

Why is he sitting on a BLACK towel??????

The post uses a clip from Trump's appearance.

The full version of the 40-minute interview (archived here) on foxnews.com shows Trump entering the studio and standing with the four Fox interviewers before they all sit on a white couch. There is nothing visible at any of the positions on the couch before they all sit:

The post on Threads uses a screenshot that shows Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, seated, with material from the jacket of his dark suit fanning out on both sides of him. No other fabric is discernible on the couch.
