Fact Check: Mark Wahlberg Did NOT Demand 'Immediate Firing' Of Teachers Who Remove American Flags from Classrooms Rep Says No

Did actor Mark Wahlberg say teachers who remove American flags from classrooms should be fired? No, that's not true: A representative for Wahlberg denied it. A social media post saying he made the demanding statement didn't cite any credible evidence. Google searches also didn't produce any credible news reports confirming the post.

The claim appeared in a post (archived here) on Facebook on January 25, 2025. Above a side-by-side image of Wahlberg and an American flag in a classroom, the caption said:

A "Dailyshear.com" article (archived here) is linked in the comment section of this post with the headline "Mark Wahlberg Demands Immediate Firing of Teachers Who Remove American Flags from Classrooms."

Clicking on the article, which does not cite any credible sources, produces a pop-up ad.

Lead Stories reached out to a representative of Wahlberg for a statement on this claim. In a January 30, 2025, email, his management confirmed that the claim was false.
