No Evidence

Are House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden being investigated by the FBI for election fraud? No, that's not true: There is no evidence offered to support this claim and no publicly available evidence supports it. The claim is fake, a Pelosi spokesperson said.

The claim appeared in the headline of a video post (archived here) on Facebook published on September 6, 2021. The headline reads:

Trump's come back to save America , Pelosi and Biden are investigated by the FBI for election fraud

The video's footage is from an episode of "Weekly Briefing with Christina Bobb," which aired on One America News Network. The video did not provide information about Pelosi and Biden being investigated by the FBI for election fraud. It also did not cite a source -- on or off the record -- who could corroborate the claim.

In emails to Lead Stories on September 7, 2021, the national press office of the FBI and the Washington, D.C., field office of the FBI both said that the bureau could not comment on the claim. During a phone call on the same day, a spokesperson for the Federal Election Commission told Lead Stories that it did not have any information on such an investigation and would not be able to provide a comment if they did.

News of an investigation of the nation's president and the speaker of the House of Representatives would undoubtedly generate headlines. However, Lead Stories conducted searches for "pelosi biden election fraud investigation" on the websites for CNN, Fox News, ABC News, CBS News and NBC News. The results were not related to the claim. We also conducted Google searches for "nancy pelosi joe biden investigated for election fraud," "nancy pelosi joe biden fbi" and "nancy pelosi joe biden investigation" and did not generate any relevant results.
