Do fibers in the eye indicate immune system strength? No, that's not true: The chief of ophthalmology at Yale Health told us, "It is not possible to determine overall immune health or strength by looking at the iris." A Mayo Clinic College of Medicine faculty member told Lead Stories that they have no knowledge of any kind of fibers in the eye correlating with immune response.
The claim appeared in a Facebook post on May 11, 2022. It has an image of two blue eyes side-by-side and reads:
Amazing fact
You can see the strength
Of the immune system from
Looking at the eyes
STRONG WEAK
The closeness of the fibers reflects
The bodies level of health & strength
The stronger the constitution
The greater the ability to heal from illness

In a May 18, 2022, email, Dr. Vicente Diaz, an ophthalmology professor at the Yale School of Medicine, told Lead Stories:
This facebook post shows two iris pictures and makes their assertion.
There are certain immunologic diseases that cause atrophy, scarring, and other distortions of normal iris structures as part of the disease. So, it may be possible to detect illness from autoimmune disease by looking at these structures.
It is not possible to determine overall immune health or strength by looking at the iris.
In a May 12, 2022, email, Dr. Gregory Poland, an immunology professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic, told Lead Stories:
I have no knowledge of any kind of fibers in the eye correlating with immune response.
A May 4, 2022, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group article titled "What Your Eyes Reveal About Your Overall Health" does not mention fibers in the eye as being any sort of indicator of immunity strength.
A Google search using the phrase "the closeness of the fibers reflects The bodies level of health & strength The stronger the constitution The greater the ability to heal from illness" found in the Facebook post produced no results that substantiate the claim.
